Welcome to my Health and Wellness website. I invite you to take the path to healthy living with me.

Twenty-five years ago, I was overweight, depressed and had constant health problems such as digestive upsets, colds and bronchitis, and just generally felt tired and run down.

As a freelance writer and journalist, I've written for small newspapers, such as the Rogue River Press in Rogue River, Oregon and magazines associated with the Medford Mail
Tribune. As a freelance writer, I've often taken on projects which require hours of research and analysis.

I brought all this experience to  bear when I began researching methods to improve my health,
making changes I could stick with.

Besides research and reporting experience, I also spent twenty years working in the health care profession, including 10 years as a US Navy Hospital Corpsman, where I worked in many different medical specialties. I also wrote for a nursing magazine as a freelance writer.

My interest in health and wellness stemmed from seeing so many patients who were suffering unnecessarily from illness and diseases which stemmed from lifestyle choices.  If these people had only known how to take better care of their health, they wouldn’t have been ill in the first place. From this experience came the idea for helping people to become more educated about health and wellness so they could take responsibility for their own health and achieve a healthy, energetic life at any age.

How did I create my own healthy living program?

I loved to cook so I started researching healthy recipes for our family. We switched to a mostly organic diet, which over the years has added more raw diet principals. For any health issue we had, I researched and used natural remedies, rather than popping some over the counter drug.

I'd always loved to walk so I started walking every day with my dog. Once my walking
buddy got into this habit, she never let me skip a day!

Along the way, I've added meditataion, yoga and tai chi for natural healing and stress reduction. I've also discovered great products that I believe can make a real difference in people's lives. I was so impressed with some of them that I started my own business teaching people how to live a healthier, happier life.

Let's face it, no matter how wonderful your life is in other areas, if you aren't healthy, it affects everything else. If you are healthy, you can take on the world and come out on top. That's what I wish for you! Increased health, energy and vitality.

Many times these days doctors are rushed and hurried and don’t have the time it takes to really educate their patients. Things like diet, exercise, relaxation techniques and even alternative medicine can contribute positively to everyone’s quality of life. If you have an illness or disease, your health will nearly always be positively impacted by following a nutritional diet, an exercise plan and using methods like meditation to boost your immune system and relax you.

Always, if you have a health concern or illness, check with your physician before embarking on any new health or nutrition plan. That being said, on this website, I hope to share information which will help and inspire readers to make their own journey to better health.
