What is Acupuncture?
According to the ancient Chinese,
a universal life energy called Chi
or Qi circulates throughout the
body along specific pathways or
meridians. Health is maintained
in the body when this energy flows
freely and illness and disease are caused by a blockage or disruption of this energy. The use of Acupuncture restores health by stimulating certain points on the meridians in order to free up the Chi energy and help it flow smoothly throughout the body.
Acupuncture can treat illness or stress.
Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of ailments from joint pain, headache and migraine, stress, lack of energy, hypertension, infertility, sports injuries, etc. In some cases, relief is instantaneous and in some cases further acupuncture treatments are necessary. Treatments can be energizing or relaxing, depending on the person receiving them.
Acupuncture needles are used once and discarded according to medical biohazard regulations. They are inserted just below the skin at anywhere from a 15 to 90 degree angle. A sensation called deqi, which is not to be confused with pain, is felt by the patient.
