Easy Blueberry Vinegar Recipes - Add Superfoods to Your Salad

Blueberry vinegar is easy to make and this recipe adds an elegant touch to homemade vinaigrette salad dressing recipes. Or, you can use it as a marinade.If you can find store-bought blueberry vinegar, it's expensive but
you can save money by making your own with this blueberry vinegar recipe.

For a base, fine wine white vinegar or rice wine vinegar makes the best fruit-flavored vinegar.

Easy Blueberry Vinegar Recipe

The following is the easiest and simplest recipe
for blueberry vinegar.

Ingredients

1 c sugar
Vinegar to cover blueberries - Use your choice
of rice wine vinegar or fine white vinegar
2 pt fresh blueberries
Zest of one Orange

Directions

First, sterilize the containers you will be using, either in the dishwasher or in water and a few drops of bleach. Rinse and dry thoroughly as you don't want any water to cloud your vinegar.

Place the blueberries in medium mixing bowl and cover them with vinegar, allowing them to stand for one hour.

After an hour, put the blueberries and vinegar into a glass sauce pan, add sugar and orange zest, then bring all ingredients to a boil.

Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Strain berries out of the mixture, pressing as much liquid as possible out of the berries, as well.

Pour your blueberry vinegar into sterilized glass jars or fancy bottles. Blueberry vinegar makes a terrific homemade gift.





Recipe #2 for Blueberry Vinegar

Ingredients

2/3 c crushed blueberries, fresh or thawed frozen
2 cs fine white wine vinegar

Directions

Sterilize a glass jar as described above then put the blueberries into it. If you use a canning jar with a metal lid, cover opening with plastic wrap so the vinegar doesn't come in contact with the metal.

Shake the jar and set it aside. Shake it again once a day for three days, then, after three days, strain the berries from the vinegar and pour into glass bottles.

Recipe #3 for Blueberry Vinegar

2 c Blueberries
32 oz rice wine or white wine

Sterilize your bottles as described above.

Heat half the blueberries and the vinegar in a glass saucepan, heating for about 10 minutes. Don't let the mixture come to a boil.

Put the rest of the berries in the sterilized bottle, then strain the blueberry/vinegar mixture into the bottle too.

Cap the bottle and store in refrigerator.

Use this blueberry vinegar in your own blueberry vinaigrette salad dressing recipe.
