What You Eat Can Keep You Young!
Baby boomers want to age well and look young doing it. Younger people want to know what they can eat to stay young.
There are actually anti-aging foods that will help keep you young. Add them to your daily diet to help you avoid wrinkles and sags, keeping that young skin and muscle tone.
Antiaging foods also help you to avoid age-related diseases
such as arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease andmore by eating the right kind of foods.
Eating anti-aging foods also helps you keep your weight at a healthy level and who doesn't want to be slim and healthy as they age?
To get the most from any anti aging diet, you eat a wide variety of foods from the following list:
- Fruits and vegetables keep you young and healthy. Eat a wide variety of colors to get the most nutrition from these anti-aging foods and eat fruits and veggies from 5 to 9 times daily to gain maximun benefit.
- Fish like salmon and sardines contain omega3 fatty acids which are important for healthy brain function as we age.plus they have anti-inflammatory benefits.which helps ward off arthritis. You should eat fish at least twice a week.
- Whole grains - get 3 servings of whole grains daily of whole grains like whole grain breat and cereal. They contain fiber for colon health and phytonutrients to assist with controlling weight and lowering cholesterol levels.
- Beans and legumes contribute lean, non-meat protein and vital nutrients to an anti-aging diet. Beans are very low in calories so they help keep our weight down as we age. Three to 4 times a week is all it takes. Keep canned beans around to add to many recipes such as canneloni beans to Italian pasta dishes or black beans in Mexican dishes.
- Probiotics, or good bacteria, from yogurt are for boosting your immune system so you stay healthy as you age. Eat yogurt or some product with active probiotics or take a supplement.
- Nuts contain heart and brain healthy fats and lots of B Vitamins to keep your heart and brain in good working order and keep your skin young and soft. Nuts add protein too. Keep some around and add to salads or eat as a snack.
- Water - Drink plenty of water to keep toxins flushed from the body and keep skin and muscles well hydrated. Water benefits circulation, and all other organs in the body, including weightloss.
- Green Tea -is a super anti anti aging and anti-cancer food. Drinking 3-4 cups daily also cuts your chance of getting a debilliating storke.
- Other foods from the "superfood list" include blueberries, acai fruit and goji berries. These superfoods boost brain power and the immune system and contain many anti-cancer, as well as anti aging, properties.
As you can see by the list, anti aging foods are the nutritional power foods that not only help with healthy aging, but offer good health at any age. Make it a habit to eat some of these foods at each meal and for daily snacks.
Foods to skip for anti aging:
- Sugar - There's no doubt about it, eating excess sugar ages you. It ages your skin, attacks your immune system, causes diabetes and other health problems. If you need sweetener for tea or coffee, try stevia instead. Stevia is a natural plant sweetener with zero calories.
- Processed Foods- Processed foods contain lots of toxins, chemicals and preservatives you don't need and much of the nutrition you need for healthy aging has been removed. Remember, when it comes to food, the less packaging around it, the better. Load up on whole foods that don't come ground up in a box!
- Beef- beef contains protein and vitamins but it's best to limit servings to one or two a month to keep the heart healthy.
Healthy eating tip:
Plan menus for a week week at a time and and include recipes with these foods in them. Shop for the week and buy the foods, sticking to the outside aisles of the supermarket where the fresh, whole foods are. Inside aisles of grocery stores are where you find most of the chips and soft drinks. By planning to eat an anti aging diet and keeping those foods on hand, you're already 90% of the way toward a healthy aging diet.
