Holiday Candy Recipes - Delicious Divinity
If you'd like to make holiday gifts from the
kitchen this year, try this divinity recipe
which is a family tradition at our house.
My mom used to make it every Christmas
and I continue this tasty tradition.
This divinity makes a nice, colorful
addition to that plate full of cookies
you give neighbors as a holiday gift.
Ingredients for Divinity
2 3/4 c sugar
2/3 c white karo syrup
3/4 c water
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c nuts
2 egg whites
Maraschino cherries, chopped fine and drained of liquid
Drain and chop maraschino cherries. Put on paper towel to get all liquid out.
Mix sugars and water. Cook until a medium hard ball forms when dropped into cold water.
Whip egg whites until peaks form. Pour 2/3 of syrup slowly over the beaten egg whites, beating constantly with hand mixer until creamy.
Blend in vanilla and add nuts and chopped cherries.
Drop spoonfuls onto waxed paper and let cool.
