Lemons Add Zest to
Your Anti-Aging Diet
and Beauty Routine
Every wonder why lemonade
and summer are a natural fit?
One reason is that the cool,
zesty scent of lemon uplifts
our spirits and makes us feel
energetic. Lemons help
stimulate circulation and
contain nutrients such as
vitamin C, B6, iron,
potassium, zinc and magnesium.
Lemons Fight Aging
and Chronic Diseases
New studies show that marinating meat in lemon juice before cooking helps reduce harmful compounds which cause aging and chronic diseases. AGEs, or advanced glycation products, in meats cause inflammation and hasten aging, but were cut in half by marinating beef in lemon juice for one hour. Shorter marinating times are also beneficial.
Besides helping to eliminate AGE's in meat, lemon juice also helps to tenderize the meat and adds a zesty flavor.
Lemons are also very alkaline and can help bring our body back to a more healthy alkaline state. Our bodies become too acidic from eating the wrong foods and too much sugar and processed foods, which in turn, causes many of the health problems we experience.
Lemons are also rich in antioxidants which help protect our body's from free radicals, help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels and boosts our immune system. Lemon is also believed to aid digestion.
Use of Lemons in aromatherapy
The clean, refreshing scent of lemon helps uplift and energize us. Add a fresh lemon peel to hot water or drop into your bath. Lemon candles are also available for a pick-up to the spirits.
