What is Qigong?
Qigong is a series of slow, meditative movements, used to open the energy channels of the body for for health and healing. Qigong benefits the balance, helps promote heart and bone health
and clears and calms
the mind, relieving stress.
How to Learn Qigong
It's very easy to learn
qigong exercises at
home and there are
several good programs
available on dvd to
teach you. Once you
learn the basic qigong
exercises, you can
perform them anyplace,
anytime. No special
equipment is needed.
Two qigong teachers I recommend are Lee Holden and Francesco Garripoli and both have several dvd programs available on Amazon. They are easy to follow and understand and offer quite a bit of explanation about what the exercises do for your health and for natural healing.
If you have health issues of any type, qigong exercises are very gentle and build strength and flexibility without causing any harm to your body. Even if you don't currently have any health problems, practicing qigong can help you sleep better, build your immune system and increase flexibility and health.
I've been doing qigong exercises every day for about a year and I feel less stressed, I sleep better and my balance is much better than it used to be.
If you have trouble sitting to meditate but you want the benefits of meditation, learning qigong might be the perfect solution for you. You receive the benefits of meditation as you focus on slowly moving through the exercises.
There are literally dozens of different qigong exercises but once you learn several of them, you will find your favorites, which you can then practice without watching a dvd. If you have health issues, you'll probably want to watch for exercises to learn which address specific areas of the body which you need help with.
Learning qigong can be a life-changing experience. Find just 20 minutes a day to practice and you'll find you are calmer and healthier. You will sleep better and feel more at peace with life.
