Natural Neuropathy Treatments
Symptoms of neuropathy include numbness and tingling, sharp stabbing pains in hands and feet, restless leg syndrome and others. Many who suffer neuropathy symptoms feel this continuously, 24 hours a day, making sleep difficult and life unpleasant.

Getting the proper neuropathy treatment depends in large part on the cause of the neuropathy so it's important to get a full physical to determine if a treatable condition such as diabetes or a vitamin deficiency is to blame.

If you have visited your neurologist, you may come away without a known cause. You will probably be told that the only treatment is to manage symptoms with powerful drugs which have serious possible side effects.

What are Natural Treatments of Neuropathy?

There are no magic cures for neuropathy but there are several natural treatments you can try which might reduce the symptoms dramatically or even get rid of them altogether.

Nerve Support Formula - Sometimes neuropathy symptoms can be improved or even alleviated with large doses of B12. Nerve Support Formula contains Methylcobalamin, a more absorbable form of B12. If you suffer from diabetic neuropathy, Nerve Support Formula may greatly improve your symptoms, but any form of neuropathy can benefit.

It is suggested that you start with about 6 capsules a day and then, when symptoms subside, you can cut back to 4 or so a day.

ALA for neuropathy - Antioxidant alpha-lipoic acid (or ALA) not only helps neuropathy symptoms, it also limits the damage of free radicals, such as toxins in the environment, to the cells in the body. This damage causes aging, illness and diseases such as cancer. Dosage is 200mg, three times a day.

ALC for neuropathy - Acetyl-L-caritine, or ALC, is an amino acid which has shown promise in treating Alzheimer's disease and age-related memory loss, poor brain circulation and cataracts, besides being used as treatment for various forms of neuropathy. For neuropathy, dosage should be individualized according to results. Start with 500mg three times a day up to a maximum dosage of 1,000 mg, three times a day.

Turmeric for neuropathy - Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anticancer spice which can be added to food or smoothies or taken in capsule form. Be sure to look for organic turmeric if taking in supplement form. A common recommendation for turmeric is 400mg, three times daily.

Some people may be allergic to turmeric so if you develop a rash, discontinue. Also, if you take the drug Warfarin, don't take turmeric.

Yoga and Tai Chi for neuropathy - Yoga and Tai chi are extremely valuable as remedies for neuropathy as they help to keep open the energy pathways and improve circulation to all parts of the body. Yoga and tai chi also help reduce stress, which aggravates the symptoms of neuropathy.

Hypnotherapy can be a valuable tool for treating any illness or disease, including neuropathy. A trained hypnotist can give you tools to "dial down" the tingling and numbness and deal with the fear and anxiety associated with any illness.

You may find any or all of these natural treatments for neuropathy to be helpful in getting rid of your neuropathy symptoms. Except for possible turmeric allergies, there are no known side effects to these natural remedies but always check with your doctor if you are unsure.
