Chinese Medicine, spices
like Ginger, Garlic and Curry
are "warm" spices which
prevent and cure "cold"
related illnesses such as
respiratory problems.
Warm spices also speed
the metabolism.
In this recipe, for Asian Salmon Fillets:
- Ginger is an anti-inflammatory herb which can be a great help with arthritis pain, contains Calcium, Phosphorus and Selenium, and is a very good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and Manganese.
- Curry- Contains Turmeric, which gives it its yellow color. Turmeric is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, which can help with arthritis pain and protect against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. India has one of the world’s lowest rates of Alzheimer’s disease which may be related to a diet high in turmeric.
- Salmon contains heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids which are important for preventing heart disease and high cholesterol. Contains vitamin D, phosphorus, potassium and other vitamins.
Asian Salmon Fillet with Curry Butter
Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 pounds (about 1 kg) wild-caught salmon fillets or steaks
- 1 tbsp/15 mL Spicy Garlic Soy Sauce
Curry Butter
- 1 stick (1/2 cup/125 mL) butter, melted (for low-cal, heart-healthy option use a heart-healthy, zero trans fat margarine such as Smart Balance)
- 1 tsp/5 mL Hot Pepper Sauce
Recipe Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F/200°C. Combine butter ingredients; set aside. Rub salmon with soy sauce and ginger; season to taste with Grill Seasoning. Place salmon in shallow-sided baking dish and bake 12-16 minutes or until done, basting once with Curry Butter. Serve with remaining Curry Butter.
Serves 4.
Variation: For bite-sized appetizers, cut salmon into 1-inch/25-mm chunks before seasoning.
