This Spicy Cider is a favorite at Holiday parties
If you're looking for a special drink to serve your family or holiday guests, Cider recipes can fill the bill. Here are some cider recipes that are sure to please. For making a gallon of hot cider at once, a crock pot is very handy.
Holiday Cider Recipe
Ingredients for one gallon of
Cranberry/Apple Cider
1/2 cup light or dark brown sugar
32 ounce apple juice
32 ounce cranberry juice
1 tablespoon whole cloves
1 tablespoon whole allspice
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Oranges slices for garnish, if desired
Directions:
Tie cloves and allspice in cheesecloth. In a one gallon crockpot, simmer sugar, juices, spices and 1/3 cup water for 1 hour. Before serving, remove spices in cheesecloth and garnish with orange slices.
Orange/Cranberry Cider Recipe
3 cups apple juice
3 cups orange juice
6 cups cranberry juice cocktail
3/4 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients in a heavy pan. Bring to a boil and turn to simmer for few minutes. Keep warm in a crock pot or over low heat.
Recipe serves 20.
Cinnamon sticks make a very fragrant addition as stirrers in steaming holiday mugs.
