Holiday Drink Recipes - Tea Makes a Healthy and Delightful Drink

A steaming mug of tea is soothing on a cold night. Serve your guests these special teas at your holiday party. A crock pot is handy for making the holiday tea and keeping it warm for guests.

Holiday Citrus Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

12 tea bags - black tea or green tea
12 cups boiling water
2/3 cup sugar
4 tablespoons honey
3 cups orange juice
3 cups pineapple juice
1 orange (unpeeled), sliced
1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

Place tea bags into the crockpot and pour boiling water over them. Cover; and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags. Stir in sugar, honey, orange juice, pineapple juice, orange slices, and cinnamon stick. Cover and heat on low for 2-3 hours.

Serves 16

Orange/Cranberry Tea Recipe

6 tea bags of green or black tea
6 cups water
6 cups orange juice
6 cups cranberry juice cocktail
3/4 cup sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 orange sliced and unpeeled

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients except orange in your crock pot. Heat on high until all ingredients are hot. Turn to low and simmer until ready to serve.

Recipe serves 18

Cinnamon sticks make a very fragrant addition as stirrers in steaming holiday mugs.

Cranberry Ginger Tea

6 tea bags green or black tea
6 cups hot water
1 cup ginger, fresh and thinly sliced
1 cranberries
1  cranberry juice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup sugar or 1/4 cup honey

Put tea bags, ginger, cranberries and cranberry juice into your crockpot. Thoroughly heat all ingredients and allow to steep for 30 minutes. Strain out ginger and cranberries and serve warm.

Serve this soothing, relaxing tea to your family just before bedtime.






Chai Chamomile Tea

6 tsp fresh ginger root, grated
2 tsp coriander seeds
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon caradmom
1/4 teaspoon cloves
6 chamomile tea bags
6 cups water

Combine all ingredients except chamomile tea bags in the six cups of water. Simmer together for 20 minutes. Add chamomile tea bags and steep for 10 minutes. Strain out the ginger and seeds and serve.

Other ingredients you can add or substitute:

  • Green tea or herbal tea can also be substituted for black  tea.
  • add a zing to the taste with fresh ginger slices
  • add a couple teaspoons of caramel syrup
  • add a few drops of almond or other flavored extract
