One simple low fat salad dressing is simply to combine 1/4 cup lemon juice or apple cider vinegar with 3 Tbs extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper and whatever herbs and spices you like into a shaker bottle. Shake one minute and serve over salad.
Basic Low Fat Balsamic Dressing Recipe
Balsamic vinegar makes a tasty homemade dressing and all you need is a few herbs and spices added to it.
Put 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar into your shaker bottle, along with 2 Tbs of extra virgin olive oil. Add a half tsp of any of these herbs or spices and shake:
chili powder
cumin
paprika
garlic powder
oregano
basil
minced fresh garlic
Experiment to see which ingredients you like best. Shake well and sprinkle over your salad.
Veggie Herb Low Fat Salad Dressing Recipe
Combine the following ingredients in your blender or food processor and blend well.
1/2 chopped medium-sized red bell pepper
2 chopped medium tomatoes
1/2 c loosely packed fresh basil leaves
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 c fresh orange or lime juice
1/2 c loosely packed fresh parsley
1/4 c raspberry vinegar
1 Tbs dry mustard
2 tsp fresh thyme leaves or 1 tsp dried
2 tsp fresh tarragon, or 1 tsp dried
2 tsp fresh oregano, or 1 tsp dried
ground black pepper
Blend and serve over salad.
