Hitting the Road for Your RV Vacation
Take good nutrition and exercise with you wherever you travel
You're on the road to healthy living and decide to travel the country in your RV. Do you have to leave your healthy lifestyle at home while you're on the road? Definitely not.
Even in limited space, RV travel can include all the comforts of home
Let's face it, space is limited in an RV. Cooking nutritious meals can be a challenge with ingredients and cooking utensils at a premium. However, you can still find wellness on the road both for nutrition and for exercise. Here are some suggestions for your diet:
- Ask around about local farmers markets or U-Pick farms where you can get locally grown, fresh produce in season. When you find some great places, post this info on the community bulletin board. Perhaps others would like to join you in a farmers market trip.
- Hold RV cooking demonstrations in the park community center
Sticking to your exercise plan while traveling in your RV
- Local parks with walking paths - Here is a link to the National Park Service which allows you to search for parks by location or activities offered-such as trails for hiking.
- Local schools with a track to walk
- Local community center for walk-in exercise classes
- Check for classes at the RV park community center. If there aren't any exercises classes, post a sign on the bulletin board and start one
- Also post a notice for a walking buddy. It will help you stick to your exercise plan if you have someone to walk with.
- Depending on how much room you have in your RV, there are an abundance of CD's for every type of exercise.
Community websites offer travel and recreation information
Wherever you go, check out the community's city or county website for great links to parks and recreation ideas or local businesses, such as health clubs and spas where you could drop in for a class or two.
